A draft for careful review

Find the words you want to return to.

An interview transcript gives you a written starting point for reviewing a conversation. Upload a supported recording, then use the editable text to find passages and prepare your notes.

VoxText currently returns plain text without automatic speaker labels or timestamps. Add interviewer and guest names yourself, and compare any quote you intend to publish with the original audio. Overlapping speech may need substantial correction.

Step by step

Prepare an interview text draft.

  1. 01

    Choose the recording

Save or export the conversation as an MP3, M4A or WAV file you are allowed to process. Listen to the exported copy, and check that both speakers are audible and that its size and duration fit the limits shown in the uploader.

  2. 02

    Review the words

Start transcription above. Then replay names, figures and any quote you intend to use, comparing the recognized words with the recording. Keep uncertain passages marked for review instead of guessing what was said.

  3. 03

    Add the context

Add interviewer and guest names and paragraph breaks yourself after listening to each turn. Copy the reviewed text or download TXT for your article draft or research notes; remove private details before sharing when needed.

A look at the result

A two-voice excerpt to review.

An owned, 21.76-second recording with two synthetic voices, not a real interview or user feedback. This is the unedited text from a VoxText Cloud service integration test on October 6, 2026, without speaker labels. It is not an accuracy benchmark or a browser upload/billing test.

Sample transcriptEditable

Before you upload

Label turns and check the quote yourself.

Try a manual speaker edit

After listening to the demo, you could write: Demo interviewer: “What changed after the pilot in April?” Demo guest: “We explained the schedule before the first session.” These names and the turn boundary are a manual editing example; they were not returned by the service. The original output above stays unlabelled until you edit it.

Preserve the meaning of a quotation

The demo script says “ten minutes” and the returned text uses “10 minutes.” Check both against the audio. Keep the qualification “not results from a controlled study” when using the guest’s suggestion; removing it would change the context. The fictional pilot is part of the demo script, not evidence about this product.

An overlapping or quiet answer is unclear

Replay that passage and check the original channels or export in your recorder. A distant microphone or overlapping voices can hide words. Use the clearest source available and mark words you cannot verify; the tool cannot guarantee a verbatim quote from inaudible speech.

The conversation does not fit the limit

Check both the 100 MB cap and your current minute limit. Select the needed section in your audio editor or review a suitable plan. Splitting an interview does not create extra free minutes, and a smaller compressed file still has the same duration.

Questions

Interview transcript questions

Does VoxText automatically label the speakers?

No. The current output is plain text. You can manually add speaker names in the editor.

Can I use the transcript as a verbatim published quote?

Check it against the original audio first. Automatic recognition can mishear words, names or numbers, so the result should be reviewed before quotation.

Does the transcript include timestamps?

No. Current TXT output does not include synchronized timestamps or navigation back to the recording.

How much can I transcribe for free?

Try up to 10 cloud minutes without signing up. A free account includes up to 30 lifetime minutes in total, including linked guest use. The allowance does not renew monthly, and no credit card is needed to try it.

What are the file limits?

Upload one MP3, M4A or WAV at a time, up to 100 MB. Your plan and remaining allowance determine the maximum duration; the uploader shows your current limit before you choose a file.

What happens to my recording?

Cloud transcription sends the recording through private temporary storage and a transcription provider. VoxText requests deletion of temporary audio after processing. Completed transcripts are retrievable for up to one hour and are scheduled for deletion after delivery. See the Privacy page for details.
